This is an attempt to create a search structure for trees and shrubs based on some characteristics. Please note that the perennials are not included as they have their own system, Hansen/Mussel, that you find here. This one is made using a database that is in use for creating labels in the garden center and is in use already for a long time. It was originally not intended for this purpose, so it's structure isn't always what you want for this specific purpose, but there is no better available at this time.

The characteristics that can be used are:
- height (when mature)
- colour (flower or leaf, depending on type of plant)
- flowering period(s)
- hardiness

On this page you get of the characteristic 'colour' all starting values. Clicking on a link you get the underlying page with the other characteriscs and so on, until you get a list of plants that meet the selections made. You do not need to make selections everywhere. This way you might get a list of plants flowering red in May which get about 2 metres high. The final list does have some Dutch expressions, we are working on automatic translations of these as they come from the database mentioned earlier, we apologize for any inconvenience.
