Fijnvertakte struik met opvallend kersrood voorjaarsblad. Betekenis van de Japanse naam: '? Japanse kers'.. De hoogte na 10 jaar is 2 meter. De bladkleur is helderroserood in voorjaar. Deze plant is goed winterhard.
