Ministruikje voor rotstuin of bonsai met overlappende bladeren. De bladeren zitten als een soort dakpannetjes overlappend over elkaar Het is een klassieke Japanse cultivar die ook in de kleine tuin heel gemakkelijk een plaatsje vindt. De groeisnelheid is alleen voor de ongeduldige tuinier vaak een teleurstelling. De hoogte na 10 jaar is 75 cm. De bladkleur is groen. Deze plant is goed winterhard.
