Slanke struik met speciaal klauwachtig zalmgeel voorjaarsblad. Betekenis van de Japanse naam: 'berg parasol'.. De hoogte na 10 jaar is 2 meter. De bladkleur is groen met witte nerven. Deze plant is zeer winterhard.
